Lami

Laminectomy is a procedure that involves removing the posterior-most aspect of the spine called the lamina. This procedure essentially unroofs the bony spine thereby relieving the compressed nerves and/or the spinal cord by creating more room for the compressed and squeezed neural structures. Laminectomy may be done solely or as part of another procedure such as a lumbar spinal fusion or spinal cord stimulator placement.
