Lumbar Micro Discectomy

Lumbar Micro Discectomy is done from the back of the spine through a small skin incision under general anesthesia for the purposes of removing a herniated disc and/or removing spurs. A series of dilators are inserted to separate the muscles and at the end, a hollow working tube is introduced, and all the dilators removed. Then, through the aid of a surgical microscope, the surgeon uses various tools to remove the herniated disc and/or spurs. The patient is typically discharged within a few hours after the surgery.
